Dr Larisse Badenhorst qualified from the University of Witwatersrand in 2013. She studied B.Sc. Behavioural Genetics at the University of the Free State and completed her Honours in Genetics before moving to Johannesburg to complete her MBBCh. She started her Internship at Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria West and stayed on to complete her Community Service at the same hospital in the Family Medicine department, working in casualty, the family medicine clinic as well as the HIV clinic.

She started working as a General Practitioner at Intercare in Fourways in 2017. She completed her HIV Diploma while working at Intercare in 2018 from the Colleges of Medicine South Africa. In 2019, the opportunity of becoming the co-owner of Well Family Practice and part of My Sexual Health Johannesburg crossed her path. It is here where she could really lay the ground for the love she has for women’s health and sexual health issues, in particular HIV care. She is the sole owner of Well Family Practice since March 2022 & relocated to be closer to home. Well Family Practice joined the beautiful HvH Lifestyle Centre in Northcliff.

She is a part of the Southern African Sexual Health Association (SASHA) Executive Committee, HIV Clinicians Society, ISSM, ESSM & ASSM. She is the Chairperson of SASHA Gauteng. She has made numerous media contributions including blogs, media articles, radio and television interviews.

Dr Larisse Badenhorst not only has a role of a medical doctor, she is also married to a wonderful husband Dawie, and is the mother to 2 beautiful children Heinrich, aged 6, and Myla, aged 4.
